Meet Your Therapist
Mindy Brodsky, LCSW
Welcome! I'm a trauma-informed therapist and certified grief educator specializing in meaning-centered and creative approaches to both death and non-death losses.
I believe that grief is not a problem to be solved, but an experience that deserves to be witnessed, tended, and integrated into our lives with compassion and curiosity.
Through individual therapy, writing workshops, community education, and legacy work, I have dedicated my career to creating space for people to explore the meaning of their loss, honor what has changed, and reconnect with what matters most.
When I'm not working, you'll likely find me on my yoga mat, walking outdoors, writing, reading, or spending time with my husband and our two boys. These practices—and the people I love—continually remind me of the importance of presence, perspective, and finding meaning in everyday moments.
It is a privilege to accompany people through grief and loss, and I am continually inspired by the ways we learn to carry what we cannot change while remaining open to life, love, and possibility.
As both a therapist and a fellow human being, I know that loss touches every life. My hope is to offer a space where all parts of your experience are welcome—a place to tell the truth about what hurts, honor what matters, and discover how to move forward while carrying the people and experiences you hold dear.
Why I Do This Work
My work with grief is deeply personal. I've experienced loss, sat with people in their hardest moments, and witnessed the profound resilience of the human spirit.
My path to this work has been shaped by both professional experience and personal reflection. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than a decade working in both domestic and global civil and human rights advocacy in Washington, DC, where I witnessed the profound impact of trauma, resilience, and the human need for connection. Today, I bring that same commitment to helping people navigate life's most challenging transitions with courage and support.
I know what it's like to feel like the world has moved on while you're still figuring out how to breathe. I also know that grief, when given space and compassion, can be a doorway to meaning, connection, and transformation.
If you're here, I see you. Your grief is welcome here.
My Approach
“Collaborative, Compassionate, and Grounded”
My work is grounded in meaning-centered approaches to grief, informed by existential therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care. If that sounds a little intense, don't worry. My job is to create a safe, supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are and explore what feels most important to you.
One thing I often tell clients is that you are the expert on your own life. You are in the driver's seat; I am not here to tell you where to go. Instead, I think of myself as a guide and map-holder—someone who helps you navigate unfamiliar terrain, identify possible paths forward, and stay connected to what matters most along the way.
My approach honors the reality that grief is not linear, not something to "get over," and not a disorder. It is a profound human experience that changes us and deserves a space where it can be expressed, explored, and ultimately integrated into the ongoing story of your life.
Together, we will make room for both the pain of what has been lost and the possibility of what remains, helping you find a way forward that feels authentic, meaningful, and true to you.
